Basic concepts in mentalizing therapy with adolescents with emerging personality disorders and self-harming behaviors
Mentalizing-based treatment (MBT) has developed over the last 2 decades as a coherent conceptual framework. MBT has growing empirical support as an approach to treating not only adults with borderline personality disorder but also adolescents with emerging personality disorder or self-harm and eating disorders as well. In this Workshop, participants will learn about: 1) how mentalizing capacities develop in the context of attachment relationships; and 2) the impact of neurodevelopmental changes in adolescents' mentalizing capacities.
