62.1 predicting the development of serious mental illness

The goals of this session are as follows: to define serious mental illness (SMI) and “at-risk mental state”; to identify risk factors and mechanisms associated with the development of SMI; and to review the outcomes of children and adolescents identified as high-risk and to discuss their implications for treatment, planning, and anticipatory guidance.
