Recent evidence suggests that the use of cannabis, especially during adolescence, is associated with increased risk of psychosis in adolescence and young adulthood. Cannabis use and psychosis have common and distinct preadolescent etiological risk factors that may moderate their relationship. It is imperative to understand these intricate relationships to actively intervene through cannabis use screening and prevention in this vulnerable age group to reduce the risk of future psychosis.
