Embracing discomfort and distress: conventional and innovative applications of exposure treatment

Exposure-based treatments are among the most effective psychosocial treatments. Regrettably, the use of exposure-based procedures in treatment-as-usual settings is less than optimal. Knowledge, skill, and attitudinal barriers truncate proper application. As a result, this Clinical Perspectives presentation aims to increase the implementation, scale, and sustainability of exposure-based treatments by providing attendees with state-of-the-science findings and practical applications. These goals match the conference themes, emphasizing translational research to improve clinical care, training programs, and service delivery systems.
