75.2 latina suicide attempt and intergenerational tightrope

In this session, Lee Carlisle, MD, will present the clinical care of an unauthorized Mexican American girl (age 14 years) who engaged in care after her third suicide attempt. She experienced bullying by white girls after episodes of sneaking out and consuming alcohol with older male white youth. Intergenerational conflict over her level of acculturation was evident, and her family refused to allow her to take antidepressants. Participants will learn how to identify the level of acculturation and to evaluate for intergenerational acculturation family conflict.
