4.2 utilizing a trauma-informed therapeutic intervention in the emergency department for risk assessment

Suicide is the second leading cause of death among adolescents in the United States and the first leading cause of death in Utah. Emergency department (ED) visits for youth at risk for suicide have increased significantly over the last decade. The ED is a challenging site for the delivery of mental health interventions, although it provides a valuable opportunity to intervene with this high-risk population. This presentation will describe an ED evidenced-based behavioral assessment and intervention protocol.
