3.44 characteristics of providers using a child psychiatric access program in maryland

Despite a significant increase in outpatient visits for diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders among youth, there is a growing gap between the need for and availability of pediatric mental health services (MHS). Child Psychiatry Access Programs (CPAPs), similar to the Maryland Behavioral Health Integration in Pediatric Primary Care (BHIPP) program, have shown promise in increasing access to MHS. The purpose of this study is to describe the types of primary care clinicians (PCCs) that call BHIPP and to examine patterns of their use of BHIPP services.
