Authors: Morano A, Palleria C, Citraro R, Nesci V, De Caro C, Giallonardo AT, De Sarro G, Russo E, Di Bonaventura C Abstract Introduction. Epilepsy is a common neurological disease requiring complex therapies, which have been unable to achieve seizure control in 30% of patients. Poor adherence has been recognized as a possible determinant of drug-resistance. Prolonged-release formulations of anti-epileptic drugs might help increase adherence, minimize side effects and pharmacological interactions. Areas Covered. Pregabalin (PGB) has peculiar pharmacodynamics and almost ideal pharmacokinetics, except for a short half-l...

This study mainly investigated altered functional connectivity (FC) of the amygdala in CD patients during resting-state. Magnetic resonance imaging scans were acquired from 42 CD patients and 35 healthy controls (HCs). Whole amygdala bilaterally were selected as regions o f interest (ROIs). Voxel-based morphometry and FC methods were applied to investigate the differences of structure or intrinsic connectivity of the amygdala between the two groups, separately. Pearson correlations were performed to explore relationships between the clinical characteristics and neuro imaging findings in CD patients. Based on the whole...

The study included 60 patients and 60 caregivers. Caregivers performed interventions once a day for 15 days. Patients in the experimental group received reflexology, and patients in the control group were included in the reading session. Mean pain, anxiety, and fatigue levels significantly decreased for the patients who received foot reflexo...
