Breast Cancer Phenotype Influences MRI Response Evaluation after Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy

ConclusionsMRI demonstrated good accuracy in predicting pCR after NAC among the breast cancer patients examined. However, non-mass enhancement at pre-treatment MRI negatively affected the diagnostic performance of MRI in assessing treatment response after NAC.

Malignant mesothelioma has become the latest deadly cancer linked directly to the rescue, recovery and cleanup efforts following the 9/11 terrorist attack on New York City in 2001. The long-running threat has come to fruition. Eighteen years after Manhattan was engulfed in the asbestos-laced, toxic cloud of dust — caused primarily by the World Trade Center destruction — the first death from pleural mesothelioma attributed to 9/11 has been recorded. Nick Ursta, 52, from the southwestern part of Pennsylvania, died after a year-long battle with the rare cancer. Ursta, a construction worker and fireman by trade, w...

RAS protein activator like 2 (RASAL2) belongs to the RAS GTPase-activating protein family and plays an important role in several cancers, including ovarian cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, malignant astrocytoma, renal cell carcinoma, bladder cancer, colorectal cancer, liver cancer, triple-negative breast cancer, lung adenocarcinoma, and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Traditionally, RASAL2 has been regarded as a tumor suppressor but recent studies have found that it is an oncogene in specific types of cancer, such as colorectal cancer, liver cancer, triple-negative breast cancer, triple-negative/estrogen receptor-negati...

Yicheng Ni Cancer remains a major cause of death globally. Given its relapsing and fatal features, curing cancer seems to be something hardly possible for the majority of patients. In view of the development in cancer therapies, this article summarizes currently available cancer therapeutics and cure potential by cancer type and stage at diagnosis, based on literature and database reviews. Currently common cancer therapeutics include surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy. However, treatment with curative intent by these methods are mainly eligible for patients with localized diseas...

Breast cancer is the most common female malignancy worldwide, however its molecular pathogenesis still needs in-depth investigation. Here we first revealed that the olfactory receptor family 2, subfamily T, member 6 (OR2T6) was significantly over-expressed in breast cancer tissues compared with normal breast tissues. OR2T6 expression was tightly correlated with higher TNM staging, positive lymph node metastasis, and associated with poorer patients' overall and disease-free survival. And OR2T6 enhanced the proliferation, invasion, and migration ability of breast cancer cell lines in vitro (MCF-7 and MDA-MD-231). Mechanicall...

This study sought to evaluate the impact of RT for DCIS on mortality after SBC in a larger cohort. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Using the SEER database, 3,407 patients were identified who received breast-conserving therapy with or without RT for primary DCIS in 2000 through 2013 and subsequently developed a stage I-III invasive SBC within the same time period. Fine-Gray competing risk models were used to study the association between receipt of RT and mortality after SBC. RESULTS: Prior RT was found to be associated with higher rates of breast cancer-specific mortality (hazard ratio [HR], 1.70; 95% CI, 1.18-2.45; P=.005),...
