eacute; Chandan Guha Radiation therapy (RT) has traditionally not been widely used in the management of hepatic malignancies for fear of toxicity in the form of radiation-induced liver disease (RILD). Pre-clinical hepatic irradiation models can provide clinicians with better understanding of the radiation tolerance of the liver, which in turn may lead to the development of more effective cancer treatments. Previous models of hepatic irradiation are limited by either invasive laparotomy procedures, or the need to irradiate the whole or large parts of the liver using external skin markers. In the setting of modern-day ...

In this study, we evaluated the correlation between pre-treatment plasma fibrinogen and the burden of bone metastasis in newly diagnosed PCa patients. METHODS: A single-center retrospective analysis, focusing on prostate biopsies of newly diagnosed PCa patients, was performed. A total of 261 patients were enrolled in this study in a 4-year period. All subjects were submitted to single-photon emission computerized tomography-computed tomography to confirm the status of bone metastasis and, if present, the number of metastatic lesions would then be calculated. Clinical information such as age, prostate-specific antigen ...

In this study we aim to assess the diagnostic performance of a SPECT/CT-only protocol compared to the traditional procedure that is BS with a facultative SPECT/CT in case of unclear findings. METHODS:  50 patients with high-risk prostate cancer and suspected bone metastases were enrolled in this retrospective study. All patients received a whole-body Tc-99m-DPD BS followed by a 3 field-of-view (FOV) SPECT/CT (GE Discovery 670 Pro®) covering an area from the vertex to the mid-femur. Metastatic lesions were evaluated visually on BS and SPECT/CT and correlated to PSA-levels. RESULTS:  Detection rate wa...

ConclusionsWe suggest SPECT/CT as the primary modality of choice for the assessment of the ratio of diseased lung area. Both perfusion scan and SPECT/CT can be used for the prediction of postoperative lung function.

ConclusionsThe correlation between the location of the tracer deposits, the location of the primary tumour, and the visualization of the (tumour-positive) SNs indicated that placement of tracer deposits is of influence on the visualized lymphatic drainage pattern. This suggests that tracer injection near or into the primary tumour site is beneficial for the identification of metastatic spread.

In this study, Technetium-99m-(DOTA-NHS-ester)-Methionine radiopharmaceutical was synthesized. Between 1,4,7,10-Tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacetic acid mono-N-hydroxysuccinimide ester (DOTA-HNS ester) (MACROCYCLICS, DOTA-NHS ester, Plano, Texas, USA) and methionine(marker) were conjugated. The DOTA-HNS ester-Methionine was labeled with Technetium-99m (Inter-Medical, Technetium-99m, Bergamo, Italy). The synthesized radiopharmaceutical was used in SPECT/CT imaging for breast cancer diagnosis. For radiopharmaceutical evaluation, MTT assay for cellular toxicity, biodistribution, cellular uptake and radiochemical purity...
