P.280Neurodevelopmental, behavioral and emotional features of Duchenne muscular dystrophy
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a progressive neuromuscular disorder associated with significant neuropsychological symptoms. A retrospective case series study of 700 patients with DMD was conducted to study the prevalence of cognitive difficulties, neuropsychiatric conditions, and behavioral problems. Learning difficulties were seen in 19.6% of patients; autistic features in 7.6%; inattention/hyperactive features in 31.4%; language/speech delays in 24.4%; global intellectual delays in 3.7%; chronic tics in 2.4%; emotional/behavioral dysregulation in 38.7%; obsessive and compulsive features in 25.0%; anxiety features in 32.6%; and depressive symptoms in 15.9%.
