CONCLUSION: Total T, free T, and LH dosages are shown to be reliable markers of correct androgenization. Strict monitoring of lipid profile, evaluation of BMI and hematocrit, avoidance of self-initiated therapeutic modifications, adherence to a healthy lifestyle, and avoidance of excessive daily calorie intake can limit risks linked to long-term testosterone administration. Abstract Primary dysmenorrhea is defined as pain during the menstrual cycle in the absence of an identifiable cause. It is one of the most common causes of pelvic pain in women. Dysmenorrhea can negatively affect a woman's quality of life and interfere with daily activities. The pathophysiology of primary dysmenorrhea is likely a result of the cyclooxygenase pathway producing increased prostanoids, particularly prostaglandins (PGs). The increased PGs cause uterine contractions that restrict blood flow and lead to the production of anaerobic metabolites that stimulate pain receptors. Women with a history typical fo...

This study included men who had undergone radical prostatectomy with neoadjuvant hormonal therapy between 2003 and 2016. We evaluated the association between clinicopathological factors and smoking status as well as the prognostic significance of smoking status in biochemical recurrence. The patients' backgrounds were comparable between smokers and nonsmokers. Smoking status were identified as significant risk factors of biochemical recurrence. Smoking was a risk factor of biochemical recurrence, suggesting that smoking may promote cancer recurrence after surgical treatment combined with hormonal therapy. PMID: 3301614...

(Kanazawa University) Kanazawa University researchers reported that the SUCLA2 gene is frequently involved in the deletion of the tumor suppressor gene RB1 in advanced prostate cancer. RB1 deletion makes cells resistant to hormone therapy but SUCLA2 deletion induces a metabolic weakness. The study showed that thymoquinone selectively killed SUCLA2-deficient prostate cancer cellsinvitro andinvivo. The findings highlight a vulnerability of advanced prostate cancer cells that can be targeted by drugs.

Abstract The health benefits and risks of menopausal hormone therapy among women aged 50-59 years are examined in the Women's Health Initiative randomized, placebo-controlled trials using long-term follow-up data and a parsimonious statistical model that leverages data from older participants to increase precision. These trials enrolled 27,347 healthy post-menopausal women aged 50-79 at 40 U.S. clinical centers during 1993-1998, including 10,739 post-hysterectomy participants in a trial of conjugated equine estrogens, and 16,608 participants with uterus in the trial of these estrogens plus medroxyprogesterone acet...

The EO771 cell line presents a molecular pattern ER α‐, ERβ +, PR+ and ErbB2+ and could be considered as a luminal B subtype. The EO771 tumour‐bearing mouse model presents the great interest of developing an immunocompetent mammary neoplastic model using an orthotopic injection. AbstractAmong mouse mammary tumor models, syngeneic cell lines present an advantage for the study of immune response. However, few of these models are well characterized. The tumor line EO771 is derived from spontaneous breast cancer of C57BL/6 mice. These cells are widely used but are referenced under different names: EO771, EO 771,...

Authors: Shiraishi K, Ohmi C, Matsuyama H Abstract Male hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (MHH) is effectively treated by gonadotropins with a high rate of ejaculate sperm and paternity; however, there is no information regarding the appropriate management, including patient-reported outcomes (PROs), of men with MHH who have finished infertility treatment. To compare health-related quality of life, erectile function and biochemical alterations in men with MHH who were treated with testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) or human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Twenty-six MHH patients (mean age: 34 years) who needed to imp...

[Current perspectives on imaging and treatment of juvenile angiofibromas : A review]. Radiologe. 2020 Oct 06;: Authors: Linxweiler M, Yilmaz U Abstract CLINICAL ISSUE: Juvenile angiofibroma is a benign tumor, whose surgical treatment may be complicated due to intraoperative hemorrhage. The tumors appear as well circumscribed, reddish masses, which often extend into the complete nasal cavity and nasopharynx. STANDARD RADIOLOGICAL METHODS: Diagnosis is based on computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with angiography to identify supplying blood vessels. STANDARD...
