Critique and cure: a dream of uniting psychoanalysis and philosophy.
Critique and cure: a dream of uniting psychoanalysis and philosophy. Am J Psychoanal. 2013 Jun;73(2):138-57 Authors: Webster J Abstract Critical theory, whose aim was to historicize philosophy through integrating it with the social sciences, turned to psychoanalysis to find its way through an accounting of philosophy after the Second World War. Over 50 years after this initial project, the rift between philosophy and psychoanalysis has never been greater. If Jacques Lacan could be considered one of the few psychoanalysts to maintain and foster links to philosophical thought in the latter half of the 20th century, his work has sadly remained marginal in the clinical field throughout America and Europe. Both critical theory and Lacan remain skeptical of the direction taken by psychoanalysis after Freud. Reflecting on the history of these two disciplines, as well as through an examination of Theodor Adorno's posthumously published dream journal, critique and cure emerge as two dialectically intertwined themes that gain momentum in the dream of the unification of the philosophical and psychoanalytic projects. CONCLUSIONS Our study found that adherence to SCIT is low in a real-life setting in southeast Turkey, similar to most previous adherence studies. PMID: 30537763 [PubMed - in process]
CONCLUSIONS HMGB1 is an independent prognostic biomarker for unfavorable prognosis of patients with GBM. Released HMGB1 of GBM cells can activate AKT and ERK signaling pathways and promote GBM cells invasion in this autocrine pathway, indicating that anti-HMGB1 therapy may be a promising treatment for GBM. CONCLUSIONS The Lin28A/let-7a/c-Myc pathway is involved in cancer growth and malignant behavior in PTC and is a potential target for therapeutic intervention in this disease. PMID: 30531691 [PubMed - in process]
This study aimed to investigate the effects of metformin and acarbose treatment on urine albumin excretion in Chinese patients with newly diagnosed diabetes and low-grade albuminuria. MATERIAL AND METHODS Patients with newly diagnosed diabetes (n=589) were divided into Group I (with a baseline UACR
Authors: Erkent M, Şahiner İT, Bala M, Kendirci M, Yıldırım MB, Topçu R, Bostanoğlu S, Dolapcı M Abstract BACKGROUND Pilonidal sinus (PS) is a common disease of the sacrococcygeal-natal region. There are many treatment options, but there is still no consensus on the ideal treatment. We compared the results of our PS patients who were treated with primary midline closure (PMC), Limberg flap repair (LFR), and Karydakis flap (KF). MATERIAL AND METHODS The data for 924 PS patients from 2013 to 2017 were retrospectively examined. Demographic data, surgical procedures, schedules, and recurrence rates were e...
CONCLUSIONS This noninvasive, simple, and cost-effective method is a potential treatment strategy for focal cerebral ischemic injury. PMID: 30531687 [PubMed - in process]
CONCLUSIONS Muscone improved cardiac function in MI mice through augmented angiogenesis. The potential mechanism of muscone treatment in regulating angiogenesis of MI mice was upregulating expression levels of HIF-1α and VEGFA. PMID: 30531686 [PubMed - in process]
CONCLUSIONS Our findings indicate that resveratrol induces apoptosis via HIF-1α/ROS/p53 signaling in prostate cancer cells and may be a useful therapeutic agent against prostate cancer. PMID: 30531685 [PubMed - in process]
Authors: He J, Liu Y, Zhang L, Zhang H Abstract BACKGROUND ITGB8 encodes a β subunit of integrin (integrin β8), which is upregulated in some types of cancer. In the current study, we examined the expression profile of ITGB8 in serous ovarian cancer (SOVC) and investigated its potential as an independent prognostic indicator for overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) in high-grade SOVC. MATERIAL AND METHODS A secondary study was conducted based on genomic and survival data in large online databases, including the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), the Human Protein Atlas (HPA), and the Cancer...
