1708PDifferentiating well-differentiated liposarcomas from lipomas using a radiomics approach

ConclusionsThere is a significant relationship between a radiomics signature, consisting of a combination of quantitative MRI features, and the MDM2-amplification status. Although further optimization and validation is needed for the transition to clinical practice, radiomics has appeared to be a promising, non-invasive approach for the classification of WDLPS and lipomas.AcknowledgementM.Vos and M.P.A. DiscussionThe prevalence of adipose tumors is underestimated within hand and wrist tumors. The most common way these tumors are discovered is due to compressive neuropathy with paresthesia and/or dysesthesia. While these tumors are nearly always benign, this does not justify ignoring the opinion of the multidisciplinary tumor board or underestimating the small possibility of the lesion being a liposarcoma.Level of evidenceIV, retrospective, single-center study.

We report a well-differentiated liposarcoma and multiple lipomas in a patient with bilateral retinoblastoma at the age of two. Well-differentiated liposarcoma of the skin are rare and have a good prognosis. Lipomas are in those cases a good indicator for a higher risk of secondary cancer. There is no standardized aftercare program. We recommend therefore regular clinical-dermatological examinations every 6 months and if necessary an early excision of suspicious lesions. As the preoperative differentiation between benign and malign lipomatous tumors is restricted to magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography and biopsy, we performed a miRNA array to distinguish dedifferentiated liposarcoma patients from healthy controls and lipoma patients. METHODS: Blood samples of patients with dedifferentiated liposarcoma, heal...

Data concerning prognostic importance of DNA ploidy status in LPS cells are ...

Adrenal lipomatous tumour is a group of adrenal tumours with a significant component of adipose tissue. According to the current World Health Organization (WHO) classification of tumours of endocrine organs, adrenal myelolipoma is the only entity amongst the group of tumours being described. In the literature, other more recently documented adrenal lipomatous tumours included 24 lipomas, 32 teratomas and 16 angiomyolipomas. Rare fatty tumours of the adrenal gland comprised liposarcoma, hibernoma, adrenocortical tumours with fat component and rare adrenal tumours with fat component. Myelolipoma comprises approximately 3% of...

CONCLUSIONS: We found higher prevalence of NY-ESO-1 expression in MPNSTs than previously reported, highlighting a subset of MPNST patients who may benefit from immunotherapy. This study expands our understanding of NY-ESO-1 in WD/DD LPS and is the first demonstration of staining in a WD LPS and metastatic/recurrent myxoid/round cell LPS. These results suggest immunotherapy targeting NY-ESO-1 may benefit patients with aggressive tumors resistant to conventional therapy. PMID: 27655679 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

CONCLUSION Primary lesser sac liposarcomas are rare neoplasms. The myxoid variant is unique for its peculiar biological behavior, in its sensitivity to chemotherapy and radiotherapy and for the presence of specific cytogenetic marker.

In conclusion, the epidemiology and the prevalence of histological types of adipose tissue tumors differ in the pediatric population compared to adults whereas chromosomal and genic rearrangements are similar to those of adult cases in each histological type.
