Comparison of the Performance of Mask Ventilation Between Face Masks With and Without Air Cushion
Mask ventilation is a basic technique for induction of anesthesia. In head and neck surgery, we have encountered difficulty in ventilation owing to facial deformities. Recently, a new type of face mask without an air cushion, the QuadraLite face mask (Intersurgical, Berkshire, UK), was developed. The aim of this study was to compare the performance of cases with predicted difficult mask ventilation between the new type of face mask and a traditional face mask.
