Ebola: global commitment for local engagement needed

Five years ago, Ebola had the media in its grip. The outbreak in West Africa captured the headlines for years. The fact that the virus managed to reach the USA and Europe, ensured non-stop coverage of the outbreak. In the span of almost 2 years, Ebola infected more than 28 000 people, killing over 11 000 of them. There was a collective sigh of relief when the outbreak was finally declared over in March 2016.
