CONCLUSION: In locally-advanced NPC, excellent local control is possible with modern conformal RT with concurrent chemotherapy. Distant metastases remain a therapeutic challenge despite systemic chemotherapy. Novel systemic therapies are needed in the future for improving the OS of these patients.

AbstractNasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a malignant disease originating from the nasopharyngeal epithelial cells. The molecular mechanism of cancer occurrence is a change in the oncogene and tumor suppressor genes. One of the tumor suppressor genes that mutate in cancer cells is the mutant p53 gene. One of nasopharyngeal carcinoma progression is determined by the status of regional lymph gland. The enormous regional lymph node has a poor prognosis. To analyze the expression of the mutant p53 protein in Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) that correlated with regional lymph gland status (N) as a clinical manifestation. Express...

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is an epithelial malignancy, with a high metastatic potential. Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection plays a fundamental role, even if it is not well understood. The diagnosis of the disease in its early stage is infrequent. Imaging studies, positron emission tomography scans in addition to clinical examination, endoscopic examination, and biopsy provide information on the extent of the disease. The application of neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by concomitant chemoradiation can improve the control of NPC. In March 2016, a 54-year-old male with NPC cT1 cN2 cM0, stage III (8th edition of Americ...

fan N Abstract Oncogenes are mutated form of normal cellular genes called as proto-oncogenes and conduce to the cancer development process. Despite the fact that so many genes have been described, new genes with oncogenic characteristic and potential or tumor supressoring activity are still being defined. Recently, Up-regulated gene 4/Upregulator of cell proliferation (URG4/URGCP), a novel gene, induced by hepatitis-Bvirus-encoded X antigen (HBxAg), has been identified. URG4/URGCP gene was registered to the National Center for Biotechnology Information-GenBank (NCBI-GenBank, Entrez GeneID: 55665 and Entrez Nucleot...
