Long-term survival is possible using cytoreductive surgery plus HIPEC for sarcomatosis. Case report of 2 patients

ConclusionAn effort to identify patients with sarcomatosis who are predicted to have a complete cytoreduction should occur when these patients are evaluated. Patients with a complete resection and a sarcoma-specific HIPEC may have prolonged disease-free survival. No other treatments for these patients have been described.

Authors: Yang S, Wang D, Xu J, Luo F, Wu W, Zhang Z Abstract Objective: To observe the clinical effect of anterior debridement, decompression, bone grafting, and instrumentation for cervical spinal tuberculosis in four hospitals. Materials and Methods: This research retrospectively analyzed 146 patients with cervical spinal tuberculosis who were treated by anterior debridement, decompression, bone grafting, and instrumentation in four institutions between January 2000 and January 2015. There were 68 males and 78 females with an average age of 31.32 ± 11.69 years. All patients received chemotherapy for 18 mon...

AbstractObjectivesWe conducted an in vivo trial to investigate the safety and efficacy of a newly developed system for the application of a combined therapy consisting of irreversible electroporation (IRE) and electrochemotherapy (IRECT) in the liver. The system is conceived as a single-needle multitined applicator with expandable electrodes that allow interstitial injection of fluids, e.g., chemotherapy.MethodsExperiments were conducted in ten domestic pigs. The applicator was placed in different liver lobes under CT guidance. In one lobe, the applicator was used for conventional IRE (1500  V, 120 pulses, pulse lengt...

This study explored the effect of ginsenoside Rg3 on DNA repair and VRK1/P53BP1 signaling pathway. Ginsenoside Rg3 treatment significantly decreased the incidence and invasionin a mouse model of lung cancer induced by urethane. The results of cell survival assay and single cell gel electrophoresis showed that ginsenoside Rg3 protected lung adenocarcinoma cells from DNA damage as well as inhibited the proliferation of tumor cells. Ginsenoside Rg3 increased the mRNA and protein expression of VRK1 in NSCLC cells as measured by RT-qPCR and western blot, respectively. These findings suggests that ginsenoside Rg3 regulates VRK1 ...

ConclusionsUsing lncRNA expression profiles, we identified a biologically distinct subgroup of luminal-papillary MIBC with a favorable prognosis. These data suggest that lncRNAs provide additional information for higher-resolution subtyping, potentially improving precision patient management.

ConclusionsThe results of this study showed that lung volume changes were not a cause for concern in breast cancer patients. There are three reasons to support this conclusion. Lung volume changes and percentage reductions in LVP for each Gy increase of MLD and each percentage increase of V20 in each lobe were small; patients were asymptomatic during the follow-up period; and LVP showed partial improvements after 6 months.

AbstractThe use of conventional chemotherapy in the treatment of cancer has been restricted by the lack of cell specificity, which causes toxicity regarding healthy cells resulting in limiting side effects responsible for low therapeutic efficiency. To overcome these drawbacks, the design of prodrugs has evolved and improved by covalently linking the drug through a degradable spacer. The use of these prodrugs as drug delivery systems, which are able to inactivate the drug during its biodistribution to specifically deliver the drug to its target, is an important breakthrough in cancer therapy. This strategy consisting in th...
