Homelessness and Mortality Among Persons With Tuberculosis in Texas, 2010-2017.

CONCLUSIONS: Our findings indicate that persons experiencing homelessness bear an undue burden of tuberculosis mortality in Texas. The burden may be related to poorer health caused by poverty stressors, comorbidities, or lack of access to health care. PMID: 31539480 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

In conclusion, this review reported that IL-37 has a crucial role in reducing infection-associated inflammation and has a good impact on inflammation-induced pathology. However, tight regulation that achieved balance between effector immune responses that required for pathogen elimination and limited tissue damage that resulted from excessive inflammation should be existed in the potential IL-37 therapy to prevent clinical complications of a disease. The molecular imprinting matrix is developed strategically by molecular modelling via density functional theory. 3-Thiophene acetic acid was predicted as suitable functional monomer for imprinting ethionamide. Polymeric film was formed on the surface of glassy carbon electrode by electropolym...

Monocyte counts are increased during human tuberculosis (TB) but it has not been determined whetherMycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) directly regulates myeloid commitment. We demonstrated that exposure toMtb directs primary human CD34+ cells to differentiate into monocytes/macrophages. In vitro myeloid conversion did not require type I or type II IFN signaling. In contrast,Mtb enhanced IL-6 responses by CD34+ cell cultures and IL-6R neutralization inhibited myeloid differentiation and decreased mycobacterial growth in vitro. Integrated systems biology analysis of transcriptomic, proteomic and genomic data of large data sets...

Expression of CD11, CD29, CD36, and DC-STAMP molecules by macrophages was analyzed inin vitro experiments. These molecules mediate cell fusion, one of the mechanisms underlying the formation of multinuclear macrophages. Macrophages were obtained from intact and BCG-infected male BALB/c mice. In intact cultures, multinuclear macrophages appeared primarily due to amitotic division of cell nuclei, while in macrophage cultures from infected mice, the process of cell fusion predominated. In intact macrophage cultures, bi- and multinuclear cells expressed primarily CD29 and CD36. In cultures from infected mice, macrophages expre...

Akintola, A. LalliAbstractTumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) inhibitors are increasingly being used as immunomodulators to manage inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn’s disease. Reported serious side effects include an increased incidence of lymphoma and greater susceptibility to infections such as tuberculosis. The aim of this systematic review was to find out whether there is an ...
