CONCLUSIONS: Most T1a 0- to 2-cm renal cell carcinoma represents the low-grade clear-cell or low-grade papillary histologic subtype, with an FG3-4 minority. Even in patients with the FG3-4 histologic subtype, rates of synchronous metastases are virtually zero. PMID: 33022641 [PubMed - in process]

Authors: Michiels C, Boulenger de Hauteclocque A, Sarrazin J, Cornelis F, Ricard S, Faessel M, Grenier N, Bos F, Bernhard JC Abstract Partial nephrectomy is a first-line treatment option for the management of renal tumors. It is a surgical procedure whose complexity and stakes vary according to the specific anatomy of the patient and his tumor. 3D modeling and 3D printing have become a means of representing and thus visualizing the tumor lesion and its anatomical relationships within the organ. This mode of visualization allows the surgeon and his team, but also the patient, to easily realize the tumor complexity, ...

ConclusionIliac incision might impact post-operative pain with a moderate but significant longer hospital stay. Vaginal extraction  is an option when cosmetic outcomes present a real demand. The three options appeared to be safe and should be discussed with the patient in regard of the surgeon experience.

Authors: Gurram S, Al Harthy M, Ball MW Abstract Treatment options for metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) continue to expand. Three recent phase III trials, Checkmate 214, Keynote-426, and Javelin Renal 101, have led to FDA approval of three new regimens for patients with clear cell RCC: nivolumab plus ipilimumab, pembrolizumab plus axitinib, and avelumab plus axitinib, respectively. At the same time, the dearth of treatment options for non-clear cell RCC has changed very little. The role of cytoreductive nephrectomy has also come into question after the publication of the CARMENA and SURTIME trials. This review...

Despite surgery, there was continuous progression of the left hydronephrosis. Referral to a tertiary hospital because of continued sterile pyuria prompted investigation for tuberculosis (TB):...

Sarcopenia and systemic inflammation are associated with poor survival in cancer, but have yet to be studied for their combined prognostic utility after radical nephrectomy for localized renal cell carcinoma (RCC). We investigate associations between preoperative sarcopenia and systemic inflammation, as defined by elevated neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), with overall survival (OS) after surgery.
