This article summarizes the five main principles of personal data protection to be respected during the development of the app: purpose, proportionality and relevance, limited retention period, security and confidentiality, as well as the rights of the people who are involved in the management of the personal data (including withdrawal and modification). By Mahboobeh Mahdavinia Alanna and Anthony are not yet ten years old, but they have been to the emergency room more times than most adults. Every few months since they were babies, their parents have raced them to the hospital for asthma attacks, superinfections of their severe eczema, or food allergy reactions. They each have […]
Conclusions:The absence of demographic or clinical predictors of OSA supports using general indications for PSG in children with ASD.Citation:Tomkies A, Johnson RF, Shah G, Caraballo M, Evans P, Mitchell RB. Obstructive sleep apnea in children with autism.J Clin Sleep Med. 2019;15(10):1469–1476.
For this ‘From the Pages of Allergy Watch’ reviews from several recent issues were selected which review articles about Allergic Skin Diseases, the focus of this issue of the Annals. The first article describes a unique minimally invasive method of skin tape stripping to identify infants with atopic derm atitis who are at increased risk for food allergy. The next study investigates the difference between IgE sensitivity and clinical reactivity to foods in children with atopic dermatitis. The last investigates the impact of UV light exposure and the development of atopic dermatitis in infancy.
Fixed airflow obstruction (FAO) is present for approximately 16% of patients with asthma, with a greater FAO incidence for patients with severe disease than for those with less severe disease.1,2 Patients with FAO have increased exacerbation frequency, decreased lung function, and greater mortality than patients without FAO.3,4 The risk of developing FAO is 2 –4-fold greater for patients with increased sputum/blood eosinophil counts than for those with lesser eosinophil counts.3–7 Elevated sputum and/or blood eosinophil counts are consensual markers of asthma with an eosinophilic phenotype.
Recent epidemiological studies suggest that non-IgE-mediated childhood food allergic disorders such as eosinophilic esophagitis (EOE), celiac disease and allergic gastroenteritis (AG), may be increasing in parallel with previously observed increases in childhood IgE-mediated food allergy (FA) and food-induced anaphylaxis (FIA)1-4. The term AG encompasses food protein induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES), eosinophilic enteritis and colitis, food protein induced enteropathy, food hypersensitivity enteritis and colitis, but not EOE.
The selection of pharmacotherapy for patients with allergic rhinitis aims to control the disease and depends on many factors. Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) guidelines have considerably improved the treatment of allergic rhinitis. However, there is an increasing trend toward use of real-world evidence to inform clinical practice, especially because randomized controlled trials are often limited with regard to the applicability of results. The Contre les Maladies Chroniques pour un Vieillissement Actif (MACVIA) algorithm has proposed an allergic rhinitis treatment by a consensus group.
Ozone (O3) inhalation elicits airway inflammation and impairs treatment responsiveness in asthmatic patients. The underlying immune mechanisms have been difficult to study because of the lack of relevant experimental models. Rhesus macaques spontaneously have asthma and have a similar immune system to human subjects.
