Conclusion: Considering the radiological report, no significance was found for the observed changes. Atelectasis was not the most frequently observed change. The predisposing factors for these changes were extreme prematurity, low weight, male sex, a poorly positioned endotracheal tube and the use of invasive mechanical ventilation.

This article reports segmental absence of tracheal cartilage rings in a kitten. An 8-month-old female kitten was presented with a history of weight loss and respiratory distress for 2 months. Radiographs of the thorax demonstrated a large air-filled sac suggestive of pneumomediastinum. No cartilaginous structures were evident radiographically over the caudal portion of the trachea. At necropsy examination, approximately 2 cm from the carina, a 3 cm segment of the trachea lacked cartilaginous rings. The clinical and morphological features of this lesion were similar to those described in human and canine cases of ...

AbstractPurposeThe purposes of this study were to investigate the anatomical risk factors of grade 3  J-sign and analyse the influence of J-sign grades on the short-term clinical outcomes of patients with recurrent patellar dislocation.MethodsFrom 2016 to 2018, a total of 168 patients with recurrent patellar dislocation (187 knees) underwent medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction with or without tibial tuberosity medialization. Pre-operative J-sign severity was graded according to a previously described classification (grades 1 –3). Potential anatomical risk factors of J-sign were explored. Comparisons we...

ConclusionTE interfaced with ultrasound in this hybrid machine presents no learning curve effect. After a short initial training session, a novice observer is able to perform high rates of reliable and very reliable TE measurements.Key Points• When performing liver stiffness measurements using a new hybrid machine composed of transient elastography interfaced with ultrasound, the rate of failures of measurements is very low, below 5%.• After a short training session and using ultrasound planning, a novice operator, whatever its expertise in ultrasound imaging, is capable of performing high rates of reliable and v...

Conclusions: The Schneiderian membrane thickness was positively and highly associated with gingival biotype. The gingival biotype and arch form had significant effect on Schneiderian membrane thickness and can provide valuable clinical information on Schneiderian membrane thickness preoperatively for implant placement and sinus lift procedures.
