Comparison of Musculoskeletal Infections due to Nontyphoidal Salmonella Species and Staphylococcus aureus in Immunocompetent Children

Conclusions: Healthy children with NTS musculoskeletal infections more frequently report reptile exposure and preceding gastrointestinal symptoms and have pelvic and spinal involvement compared with children with musculoskeletal infections due to S. aureus. NTS should be considered as a potential cause of musculoskeletal infections in children with these risk factors. In contrast to previous case reports and case series, children with NTS musculoskeletal infections had a low rate of complications.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the antibacterial activity of ZnO-NPs obtained by a solochemical process against important human foodborne pathogens: Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella Typhimurium, Bacillus cereus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This study was conducted to determine the efficacy of UV-C irradiation for safety and quality of dried bay leaves. Cocktails of microorganisms of the same species were prepared and inoculated onto the leaves, which were thereafter subjected to UV-C irradiation. Autophagy plays multiple roles in host cells challenged with extracellular pathogens. Here, we aimed to explore whether autophagy inhibition could prevent bacterial infections. In this study, one bioactive coumarin analog was obtained as a result of biotransformation of three inactive coumarin derivatives by free cells of Candida albicans.
