ConclusionThe cytology and molecular analyses provide a complementary approach to patients with PCL. Power of molecular analysis in detection of a neoplastic lesion is significantly higher in one visit (p=0.01) with comparable detection rates (p=0.43) for both cytologic and molecular analyses after multiple visits.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of gross tumor morphology on clinicopathological profile of CRCs in Kashmiri population.MethodsThis 5-year study is a prospective (2 yrs) and retrospective (3 yrs) study conducted from 2011 to 2016 in the Colorectal Surgery Division at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar, Kashmir, India. Parameters studied were age, sex, site of lesion, clinical presentations, gross tumor morphology, and histopathology of the lesion.ResultsA total of 930 patients with CRC were included. Infiltrative variety was the most common morphology in patients aged 1...

ConclusionCompared with the patients with LCRC, those with RCRC had several oncologically unfavorable factors, with better RFS in stage II and similar OS in stages II and III. These results suggest that the biological aggressiveness of RCRC is lower than that of LCRC in stage II; however, it can increase after relapse.

Perioperative TMs including preoperative and postoperative TMs were stratifie...

Twenty-five male Fisher 344 rats, 250 g, provided with feed and water ad libitum, were randomly divided into 5 groups (5 rats/group): GControl, no treatment; GTumor, tumor induction; GTumor+5FU, tumor induction, 5-Fluorouracil applied; GTumor+Prob, induction of the tumor, supplemented with ...

ConclusionsRobotic resection of the tumor nodule off the external iliac vessels was successfully performed with adequate range of motion provided by the arms and without any complications.Trocar placement should be tailored to the site of surgical interest. Robotic-assisted laparoscopy should be considered as a valid alternative to the traditional open approach, when managing solitary masses in recurrent ovarian cancer patients.

Authors: Shi YL, Wang Q, Wei JC Abstract OBJECTIVE: To investigate the regulatory effect of long non-coding ribonucleic acid (lncRNA)-metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) on the extracellular signal-regulated kinase/mitogen-activated protein kinase (ERK/MAPK) signaling pathway, and to explore its influence on neuronal apoptosis in rats with cerebral infarction. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 45 adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into sham group (n=15), model group (n=15) and MALAT1 low-expression group (n=15). The model of cerebral infarction was successfully esta...

CONCLUSIONS: MiR-218 exerted anti-tumor functions in LA partially via the regulation of BMI-1, suggesting that BMI-1/miR-218 axis may provide a novel insight into tumorigenesis and the basis for the development of miRNA-targeting therapies against LA. PMID: 31599423 [PubMed - in process]

We report 15 cases of macrocystic MASC. There were 11 men and 4 women (17 to 88 y age range, average 47 y). The patients presented with a painless cystic mass, the majority in the region of the parotid gland (n=13), as well as in submandibular gland (n=1) and the neck (n=1). All tumors were circumscribed measuring 1.0 to 4.0 cm in greatest diameter (mean: 1.75 cm). Twelve tumors were unilocular, while 3 were multilocular. The cystic spaces were predominantly lined by a single epithelial cell layer with focal areas in which the epithelium was multilayered with papillary and hobnail features. In 3...
