va-Coria PM Abstract Post-operative abdominal adhesions (PAA) are a condition that occurs in more than 90% of patients undergoing abdomen surgery; they can cause chronic abdominal pain, female infertility and repeated bowel obstruction, requiring repetitive surgical interventions causing morbidity and mortality, as well as high costs. The formation of the PAA is due to an imbalance between the fibrinogenesis and fibrinolysis in favor of the first, associated with tissue hypoxia secondary to aggression of the peritoneum, also due to the own inflammatory response and the increase in the population of adhesion fibrob...

AbstractLactotroph adenomas, also called prolactinomas and prolactin-secreting adenomas, constitute nearly 80% of functioning pituitary tumors and about 30 –50% of all adenomas in the clinical practice. Lactotroph adenomas occur in the general population at a prevalence of 45/100,000, are more common in women, but also involve men and children of both sexes. Most lactotroph adenomas are microadenomas occurring in reproductive-age women who present wi th oligo/amenorrhea, galactorrhea, and infertility. In men and elderly women, lactotroph adenomas are usually macroadenomas and are most commonly associated with symptom...

ConclusionMI was reported as an effective supplement for sperm quality. In any case, several study designs lack appropriate controls or data analysis to confirm the relevance of the findings. While promising, larger prospective randomized controlled studies will be required to confirm the positive effect of MI supplementation in male infertility management. Moreover,  further investigations are encouraged to unravel MI roles in sperm physiology and the underlying molecular mechanisms.

Publication date: Available online 18 October 2019Source: The Lancet Diabetes &EndocrinologyAuthor(s): Eleanor P Thong, Ethel Codner, Joop S E Laven, Helena TeedeSummaryReproductive dysfunction is a common but little studied complication of diabetes. The spectrum of reproductive health problems in diabetes is broad, and encompasses delayed puberty and menarche, menstrual cycle abnormalities, subfertility, adverse pregnancy outcomes, and potentially early menopause. AbstractPurposeEmpirical treatment options for unexplained infertility treatment include controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) with clomiphene citrate, letrozole or gonadotropins followed by intrauterine insemination (IUI). Achieving consistent multifollicular development with letrozole generally requires addition of gonadotropins. However, the cost and discomfort of injections remains a drawback of this regimen. Therefore, there is a need for evolving newer cost-effective regimens for COS/IUI using orally administered drugs like letrozole.MethodsSixty couples with unexplained infertility (on standard infertility investigat...

Discussion: The incidence of rhabdomyosarcoma arising from endometriosis is exceedingly rare. The accuracy of diagnosing endometriosis and ruling out neoplasm requires coordinated efforts of a multidisciplinary team, involving radiologists, pathologists, oncologists, and gynecologic surgeons. Authors: Abstract Hazardous drugs (HDs) are chemicals that demonstrate one or more of the following characteristics: carcinogenicity, genotoxicity, teratogenicity, reproductive toxicity, or organ toxicity. In addition, newer drugs with a structural or toxicity profile that mimics an agent known to be hazardous by one of the aforementioned criteria also should be treated as such. Any HD-handling activity can result in exposure for healthcare workers, as documented in a multitude of case reports and studies throughout the medical literature. Exposure to HDs has been associated with acute symptoms (e.g., nasal sores...
