[Effect of the management of class I obesity with metformin on metalloproteinase activity in patients with chronic periodontitis].

CONCLUSIONS: treatment with metformin in patients with obesity class I and periodontal disease decreases BMI, improves the symptoms of chronic periodontitis and decreases the activity of metalloproteinases 1, 3, 8, V present in periodontium of these patients.
