Authors: Li H, Zhao J, Zhang J, Wang C, Li M, Wu S, Su Z, Pan Q Abstract A total of 15-30% of thyroid nodules that are evaluated by fine-needle aspiration are not clearly determined to be benign or malignant. Gene mutation analysis is recommended for the evaluation of thyroid nodules using clinical guidelines. The detection of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) has the potential to aid in the screening, diagnosis and prediction of thyroid cancer prognosis, and can be used when tissues are difficult to obtain. In the present study, whole-exome sequencing (WES) was performed on tumors and matched normal tissues from 10 pa...

CONCLUSION: Though rare, unusual loco-regional presentation of PTC poses challenges in diagnosis and treatment. A keen clinical sense is paramount in effectively diagnosing these cases. Aggressive surgical resection and reconstruction results in good functional and aesthetic outcomes. Further studies are required for establishing specific guidelines on the approach to the treatment of these cases.

We report two young men who presented with submental nodal metastasis from PCT. Both underwent total thyroidectomy with central compartment neck dissection and modified radical neck dissection (MRND). Probable factors which might influence submental nodal metastasis are analyzed. We conclude that physicians should be aware of the possibility of submental nodal metastasis from PCT. A selective approach for neck dissection can be an alternative to MRND, reducing the morbidity in management of such cases.

Portella Virotherapy is a novel cancer treatment based on oncolytic viruses (OVs), which selectively infect and lyse cancer cells, without harming normal cells or tissues. Several viruses, either naturally occurring or developed through genetic engineering, are currently under investigation in clinical studies. Emerging reports suggesting the immune-stimulatory property of OVs against tumor cells further support the clinical use of OVs for the treatment of lesions lacking effective therapies. Poorly differentiated thyroid carcinoma (PDTC) and anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC), have a poor prognosis and limited treatme...

This report presents a rare sporadic case of CMV-PTC, and to the best of our knowledge the first featuring two somaticAPC mutations underlying the disease, with an overview of CMV-PTC cases with detectedAPC andCTNNB1 pathogenic variants from the literature.

Conclusions: When MTC and PTC are concurrent, the priority should be given to the management of MTC since this entity appears associated with the most severe impact on prognosis.

Abstract Dysregulation of long non-coding RNA Papillary thyroid carcinoma susceptibility candidate 3 (lncRNA PTCSC3) has been found to correlate with various types of cancers. Quantitative RT-PCR showed a down-regulation of PTCSC3 in cervical cancer tissues compared with normal cervical tissues. The present study aimed to investigate the role of lncRNA PTCSC3 in cervical cancer and the underlying mechanisms. PTCSC3 was overexpressed in cervical cancer cell lines C-33A and Hela by transfection with pcDNA3.1-lncRNA PTCSC3 expressing plasmid. Overexpression of lncRNA PTCSC3 inhibited cell proliferation, induced cell ...
