Authors: Bashir MU, Bhagra A, Kapa S, McLeod CJ Abstract Atrial fibrillation is the most common symptomatic arrhythmia that is associated with stroke. Contemporary management of the disease is focused on anticoagulation to prevent stroke, coupled with catheter ablation to limit symptoms and prevent deleterious cardiac remodeling. Emerging data highlights the importance of lifestyle modification by managing sleep apnea, increasing physical activity, and weight loss. There is significant data that supports a link between the autonomic nervous system, arrhythmia development, and atrial fibrillation therapy. It is like...

Conclusion: Caffeine consumers receiving regadenoson stress MPI was very common, and use of regadenoson for MPI in caffeine consumers is safe and associated with lower incidence of certain symptoms compared to non-caffeine consumers. Specifically, caffeine intake was associated with less aminophylline use and chest pain. PMID: 31604901 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

WarraichAbstractHeart failure (HF) is a progressive condition with high mortality and heavy symptom burden. Despite guideline recommendations, cardiologists refer to palliative care at rates much lower than other specialties and very late in the course of the disease, often in the final 3 days of life. One reason for delayed referral is that prognostication is challenging in patients with HF, making it unclear when and how the limited resources of specialist palliat...

Identifying targets for the successful ablation of ventricular tachycardia is a major challenge despite recent advances such as targeting zones of conduction slowing or MRI-identified fibrosis1,2. Once targets are identified, impediments to successful catheter ablation include deep substrates, mid-myocardial locations, and ill-defined anatomic barriers. In an effort to ablate intramural arrhythmia substrates deep to the endocardium, irrigated radiofrequency needle catheters have recently been developed.

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between university students ’ respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) profiles and both retrospective and momentary ratings of stress. Participants were undergraduate students enrolled in an introductory health science course (N  =  64). Participants provided RSA data at rest (tonic) and following an orthostatic challenge (phasic), completed the 10-item Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), and completed 6 daily ecological momentary assessments (EMA) of stress for 1 week. Higher tonic RSA was associated with lower perceived stress assessed via P...

ConclusionsAll MVT cases were successfully treated by catheter ablation. We observed high ventricular arrhythmia free rate following catheter ablation during the long-term follow-up period. BrS patients who developed MVT should consider catheter ablation.

Authors: Liu L, Zhang H, Mao H, Li X, Hu Y Abstract MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play a key role in various pathological processes like atrial fibrillation (AF), which is a common cardiac arrhythmia. Exosomes are essential information carrier in the intercellular communication. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of exosomal miR-320d on cardiomyocytes with AF and related mechanisms. To do this, AMSCs were transfected with miR-320d mimics, AMSCs-derived exosomes were co-cultured with cardiomyocytes with AF. MTT, TUNEL staining, flow cytometry, real-time PCR, western blots, and luciferase reporter assays wer...
