Idiopathic polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy in Caucasians: The POLYON real-life study in 50 naive patients.

CONCLUSION: In a Caucasian population, polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy seems to have a later onset. A non-standardized management allows stabilizing the functional prognosis. Patients requiring photodynamic therapy rescue have a poorer prognosis. PMID: 31505993 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Conclusion: The ability of OCTA to detect an abnormal blood flow in Type 1 NV was found to highly depend on the height of the associated PED and the use of manual segmentation slabs. Our results suggest that automatic slabs of OCTA should be interpreted with caution for the diagnosis of vascularized PED. The diagnosis of Type 1 NV using OCTA requires the use of manual segmentation and a multimodal imaging approach, especially when the height of the associated PED is>250 μm.

Conclusion: Peripapillary choroidal neovascularization secondary to wet age-related macular degeneration has a slow progression, may not require treatment for a prolonged period, and responds rapidly to anti–vascular endothelial growth factor treatment with good visual outcomes.
