The small molecule macrophage migration inhibitory factor antagonist MIF098, inhibits pulmonary hypertension associated with murine SLE.

In conclusion, MIF may serve as a biomarker and a therapeutic target of SLE-associated PAH. Pharmacologic MIF antagonism may be an effective means to ameliorate SLE-PAH.
