Spontaneous subarachnoid haemorrhage incidence among hospitalised patients in Edirne, Turkey

ConclusionsThis study showing the first sSAH incidence estimation in Edirne might also be accepted as an estimation of overall epidemiological sSAH aspect in Turkey. Future investigations should be realised in different parts of Turkey to enlighten the epidemiological state of affairs and the course of sSAH in Turkey.

Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is an acute cerebrovascular disease associated with high mortality and long-term functional impairment among survivors. Systemic inflammatory responses after acute injury and nosocomial infections are frequent complications, making the management of these patients challenging. Here, we hypothesized that sepsis might be associated with early and long-term mortality and functional outcomes. Our objective was to define the incidence of sepsis, diagnosed prospectively with the Sepsis-3 criteria, and to determine its impact on mortality and functional outcomes of patients with SAH. Sepsi...

In this study, we used group-based trajectory modeling (GBTM) to study the characteristics of various groups of patients hospitalized with ACVD. In this research, the patient data were derived from the 1 million sampled cases in the National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD) in Taiwan. Cases who had been admitted to hospitals fewer than four times or more than eight times were excluded. Characteristics of the ACVD patients were collected, including age, mortality rate, medical expenditure, and length of hospital stay for each admission. We then performed GBTM to examine hospitalization patterns in patients who had...

ConclusionsTransferred patients with subarachnoid haemorrhage had lower survival rates. Septic shock and hypernatraemia were important complications among critically ill patients with subarachnoid haemorrhage and were associated increased mortality.ResumoJustificativa e objetivosA hemorragia subaracnoidea é uma causa importante de morbidade e mortalidade. This study was performed to investigate the predictors of aneurysm rebleeding and their impact on clinical outcomes in the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative periods. METHODS: The incidence of rebleeding, demographic data, and clinical data from 4933 patients with aneurysmal SAH beginning in the year 2000 were retrospectively analyzed in the Nagasaki SAH Registry Study. The authors performed multiple logistic regression analyses to identify the risk factors contributing to rebleeding and outcome after SAH. RESULTS: Preoperative rebleeding occurred in 7.2% of patients. Patient age (p = 0.01), multiple aneurysms (p
