Non-utility of sepsis scores for identifying infection in surgical intensive care unit patients

In this study, neither daily SOFA, qSOFA, nor SIRS criteria correlated with new infection in a population of critically ill surgical patients. Scores were globally elevated in non-infected patients, potentially related to high levels of existing inflammation in this population.
