AbstractA false-positive result of syphilis screening test (FPST) is a characteristic finding in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We evaluated the clinical characteristics of SLE patients with FPST at SLE diagnosis. We reviewed the medical records of patients with SLE who underwent the Venereal Disease Research Laboratory or Rapid Plasma Reagin tests at SLE diagnosis at Severance Hospital between 2006 and 2016. The baseline characteristics and clinical outcomes were compared between patients with FPST and those with a negative result of syphilis screening test. Of 145 patients with SLE, 20 patients showed ...

Eric Delwart Metagenomics was used to identify viral sequences in the plasma and CSF (cerobrospinal fluid) of 13 horses with unexplained neurological signs and in the plasma and respiratory swabs of 14 horses with unexplained respiratory signs. Equine hepacivirus and two copiparvoviruses (horse parvovirus-CSF and a novel parvovirus) were detected in plasma from neurological cases. Plasma from horses with respiratory signs contained the same two copiparvoviruses plus equine pegivirus D and respiratory swabs contained equine herpes virus 2 and 5. Based on genetic distances the novel copiparvovirus qualified as a membe...

A thorough understanding of the molecular pathways and individual genes altered by oncogenic viruses is needed for the identification of targets that can be utilised for early diagnosis, prevention, and treatment methods. We detail a logical step-by-step guide to uncover viral-protein-miRNA interactions usi...
