Conclusion: It is argued that the validity of all theory should not be assumed before sufficient empirical evidence has accumulated to support its validity across contexts. However, caution is required, to avoid the consequences of an unquestioning approach to empiricism. Keywords: Pseudoscience; denialism; medical practice; medical theory; empiricism.

Conclusion: This study has unraveled the factors that are associated with testing and counseling in institutional facilities. University students seem to seek and utilize VCT services for different reasons. It is also clear that patterns of services utilization vary from group to another as observed in the case of year of study, gender and age category.Recommendations: It is necessary for policy makers in institutions of higher learning together with those tasked with managing healthcare services in these institutions to adopt approaches that will overcome the barriers to utilization of VCT services among students. With kn...

AbstractData from repeated, national behavioural HIV surveillance was used to identify similarities and differences between young gay and bisexual men (YGBM) aged 16 –24 (n = 1608) and older GBM aged 25–49 (n = 6266), in order to quantify risks and identify gaps in HIV prevention. Trend analyses from 2014 to 2018 are also reported. While there were similar rates of condomless anal intercourse with casual partners in both age groups, YGBM had lower ra tes of HIV testing and PrEP use but also fewer male partners. Our results suggest most YGBM have lower HIV risk than older GBM but a mi...

In this study, wood and composite materials exhibit the same structural material morphology which performs as anisotropic material as it majorly contributes to failure. In this study, a state-of-the-art review of creep analysis and engineering design is carried out, with particular emphasis on the creep methodology of a cantilever beam. The existing theories and creep design approaches are grouped into two analysis methods, namely experimental and numerical approaches. To be more specific, the experimental works involved two main methods, namely load-based (conventional) and temperature-based (accelerated) techniques. Sele...
