Government has at last acknowledged public services are at breaking point

Commenting on the Chancellor’s public spending plans for next year announced today (Wednesday), UNISON general secretary Dave Prentis said:
“Public services are at breaking point. At long last, even the Conservative Party has acknowledged public services need the resources UNISON’s been calling for.
“Health, education, care, council services and the police all need proper and sustained funding. But voters should be wary of cynical pledges and gimmicks after a decade of damaging austerity.
“It’s not even clear what will happen to the government in the next week never mind the coming year. Millions of public service workers will be watching and waiting for the government to make good on its promises. Those who would play games with our public services won’t be forgiven easily.”
