Histopathological and Tumor Characteristics Associated with False Negative Axillary Ultrasonography Results in Breast Cancer.

CONCLUSION: Before stating that the axilla is normal on ultrasonography, a careful evaluation should be made in patients with a mass>2 cm in size and/ or ILC diagnosis. PMID: 31476201 [PubMed - in process]

ConclusionIt is important to maintain a suspicion for GI tract metastasis in breast cancer patients who present with abdominal mass or GI symptoms, as this aids in prompt institution of accurate and appropriate management.

CONCLUSION: The pre-treatment tumor SUVmax could be utilized as an independent imaging biomarker of the tumor aggressiveness and poor prognosis. Risk stratification based on this index could play a pivotal role in alteration of treatment planning, such as neoadjuvant chemotherapy (precision oncology). Guldane Magat, Sevgi Ozcan Sener, Hayriye CetmiliJournal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics 2019 15(5):1177-1180 Metastatic carcinomas to the jaw bones are uncommon and comprise to about 1% of all malignant oral neoplasms. The purpose of this report is to present a rare case of metastatic breast carcinoma to bilateral mandibular ramus regions. The present case report is about a 40-year-old female patient with the complaints of a paresthesia in the right mandibular area of the last month duration. She was referred to our department by her oncologist with the differential diagnosis of osteonecrosis or metastasis. She h...

Sumaira Qayoom, Malti Kumari, Sameer Gupta, Madhumati GoelJournal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics 2019 15(5):1186-1188 Breast cancer is one of the main sources of ovarian metastasis. Diffuse sheet of lobular carcinoma cells can strongly mimic granulosa cell tumor (GCT) which itself is a rare ovarian neoplasm constituting <5% of all the ovarian neoplasms. A 55-year-old female presented with a painful lump in the right breast associated with nipple discharge for 4 months, which on radiological and cytological findings was suspicious of an epithelial malignancy. During routine work-up, a solid-cystic lesion in th...

ConclusionsPatients with ILC have no different oncologic outcome than patients with IDC. However, patients with ILC in TNBC show a tendency to have a worse prognosis than patients with IDC in TNBC. This result may be related to CK5/6 and EGFR. A survey of Canadian breast health professionals’ recommendations for high-risk benign breast disease Can J Surg. 2019 Oct 01;62(5):358-360 Authors: Kappel C, Seely J, Watters J, Arnaout A, Cordeiro E Abstract Summary: The management of high-risk benign breast disease (BBD) is changing because of improvements in radiological and pathological analysis. We sought to determine the current practice recommendations of breast health professionals in managing patients with high-risk BBD. We surveyed members of the Canadian Society of Surgical Oncology, Canadian Association of General Surgeons and Canad...

ConclusionPrimary pure SCC of the breast is a rare malignancy which has a rapid rate of growth and a poor prognosis, moreover, ILC has high metastatic rate. Due to rarity of such condition and uncertain treatment modality it should be kept in mind its presence to allow choosing adequate therapy.

Abstract Breast cancer is the most prevalent malignant tumor and main oncologic cause of mortality in women. Although most diagnosis of breast pathology is accomplished using hematoxylin and eosin stained sections, some cases require immunohistochemistry for proper evaluation. We investigated the latter cases including distinctions between ductal and lobular carcinoma, in situ and invasive carcinoma, typical ductal hyperplasia and atypical ductal hyperplasia/ductal carcinoma in situ, papillary and spindle cell lesion assessment, metastasis evaluation, and assessment of prognostic and therapy markers. E-cadherin is...

AbstractBackgroundNeoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) is often recommended for patients with node-positive invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) despite unclear benefit in this largely hormone receptor-positive (HR+) group. We sought to compare overall survival (OS) between patients with node-positive ILC who received neoadjuvant endocrine therapy (NET) and those who received NACT.MethodsWomen with cT1 –4c, cN1–3 HR+ ILC in the National Cancer Data Base (2004–2014) who underwent surgery following neoadjuvant therapy were identified. Kaplan–Meier curves and Cox proportional hazards modeling were used t...
