Antibacterial, antibiofilm, antihemolytic and antivirulence properties of low molecular weight chitooligosaccharides to Staphylococcus aureus.
CONCLUSION: The water solubility of chitosan limits its biological activity, the shortening the polymer size in the form of chitooligosaccharides (COS) becomes as alternate possibilities to maintain its activity. Hence, in the present study, different sizes of low molecular weight COS were used for the testing for antibacterial, antibiofilm and antivirulence properties against S. aureus.
