Phase I trials as valid therapeutic options for patients with cancer

Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology, Published online: 02 September 2019; doi:10.1038/s41571-019-0262-9Oncology phase I trials have been traditionally referred to as ‘toxicity trials’. The authors dissect the ethical dilemmas surrounding the therapeutic intent of phase I trials and provide evidence of contemporary phase I trials as a therapeutic option for patients with cancer.
