Zoll ’s M & amp;A Hot Streak Continues with Cardiac Science

Zoll Medical said it has completed the acquisition of Cardiac Science. The merger was first announced in June and would give Chelmsford, MA-based Zoll greater access to the automated external defibrillators (AED) market. Cardiac Science will become part of Zoll’s Resuscitation division, headquartered in Chelmsford, but will continue manufacturing in the Deerfield, WI facility. Zoll said it will continue to promote, market, and supply the Powerheartline of AEDs and Rescue Readyservices as well as Zoll AEDs and PlusTrac program management. “Cardiac Science and Zoll both provide proven AED solutions to broad segments of the public safety market,” Elijah A. White, president of Zoll Resuscitation, said in a release. “With Cardiac Science now part of Zoll, we’ll be able to offer our customers more choices and a stronger AED program management infrastructure to ensure that both families of AEDs are ready when needed.” Zoll has been pretty busy with acquisitions lately. Last month, the company acquired virtually all of the assets of Mobilize RRS, a firm that develops interactive trauma and first aid systems. And in June, Zoll acquired TherOx for an undisclosed sum. The Irvine, CA-based company is focused on improving the treatment of acute myocardial infarction and sells systems to deliver SuperSaturated Oxygen (SSO2) Therapy. In April, FDA greenlit the SSO2 therapy.
