SAMHSA: Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder Patient Records

Notice from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) of a proposed rule to clarify when a court may authorize disclosure of patient confidentiality in relation to substance use disorder patients. The changes address an issue with the 2017 final rule and are intended to help efforts targeting pill mills and others contributing to the opioid crisis. Comments are due by September 25, 2019.
