Sarcopenia: Performance of the SARC-F Questionnaire According to the European Consensus Criteria, EWGSOP1 and EWGSOP2

Sarcopenia is a major public health problem, and recognized as a disease with its own International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) code assigned in 2016.1 The total number of people affected by sarcopenia is expected to grow spectacularly in the next decades, with a projected rise from 10.9 million people in 2016 to 18.7 million people in 2045 for the 28 countries of the European Union.2 If we want to address this situation, it is essential that we will able to detect sarcopenia in clinical practice with a fast, easy-to-use and low-cost instrument.
