Two/zero-dimensional Cu(II) complexes inhibit atrial myxoma cells via apoptosis

The in vitro anti-tumor activities of compounds 1 and 2 were studied on human atrial myxoma cell HemECs. The WST-8 assay indicated only the compound 1 showed high anti-cancer ability but not compound 2. And both the TUNEL staining and the Annexin V-FITC/PI assay confirmed that compound 1 induced cell death via apoptosis. Then, the further ROS assay revealed that the compound 1 could induce the HemECs cell apoptosis by increasing the generation of ROS.
