Prognosis of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) based on a six-lncRNA-based risk score: an investigation based on RNA-sequencing data

The scientific understanding of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) has improved in recent decades. Nevertheless, there has been little research into the role that lncRNAs play in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (c...

We present a 66 year-old-man that was referred to our center after the casual finding of a renal mass. With a suspected diagnosis of a renal cell carcinoma, a partial nephrectomy was performed. The histological study revealed the final diagnosis of a benign renal schwannoma.

This report presents a case of a 39-years old female presented with incidentally discovered renal mass in a crossed fused ectopia. Careful preoperative planning and meticulous delineation of renal vasculature were performed to avoid unpredicted anatomy. Nephron-sparing surgery with preservation of the normal-functioning moiety was performed with uneventful postoperative course. These clinical, morphological and immune-histochemical features will be presented with a review of the current literature.

LópezAbstractCancer-associated fibroblasts (CAF) are a cellular compartment of the tumor microenvironment with critical roles in tumor development. Fibroblast activation protein-α (FAP) is one of the proteins expressed by CAF and its immunohistochemical detection in routine practice is associated with tumor aggressiveness and shorter patient survival. For these reasons, FAP seems a good prognostic marker in many malignant neoplasms, including renal cell carcinoma (RCC...

The objective of the study presented was to search for further arguments in favor of an SSM with isPM. For that purpose, the factor’s histology, grading, and singular/multiple pancreas metastases were analyzed on the basis of 814 observations published up to 2018. While histology and grading allowed for no conclusions regarding the importance of an SSM, the comparison of singular/multiple pancreas metastases produced arguments in favor of an SSM: 1. The multiple pancreas metastases observed in 38.1% prove that multiple tumor cell embolisms occur with isPM, the exclusive “maturation” of which i...

A total of $1.3 million awarded to advance new treatments for kidney cancerHOUSTON– September 16, 2019– The Kidney Cancer Association (KCA) is pleased to announce the recipients of the Advanced Discovery Awards (ADA) and Young Investigator Awards (YIA). In April, the KCA approved $1.3 million in new grant funding to advance early detection and new treatments for kidney cancer. “The KCA was delighted by the high caliber of proposals received for both awards and are hopeful that this research will advance the medical community’s understanding of kidney cancer,” said Dr. Christopher Wood, Ch...

pelo-Martínez JL Abstract A novel analytical approach is proposed to discriminate between solid biopsies of chromophobe renal cell carcinoma (chRCC) and renal oncocytoma (RO). The method comprises the following steps: (i) ultrasonic extraction of proteins from solid biopsies, (ii) protein depletion with acetonitrile, (iii) ultrasonic assisted in-solution digestion using magnetic nanoparticle with immobilized trypsin, (iv) C18 tip-based preconcentration of peptides, (v) sequential extraction of the peptides with ACN, (vi) MALDI-snapshot of the extracts and (vii) investigation of the extract containing the mo...

The objective of the present study was to investigate the mRNA levels of important miRNA machinery components, DICER1, DROSHA, DiGeroge syndrome critical region gene 8 (DGCR8), and Argonaute 2 (AGO2), and their correlations with clinicopathological characteristics of ccRCC using mRNA expression data from The Cancer Genome Atlas kidney clear cell carcinoma (TCGA KIRC) cohort and a Korean ccRCC cohort. mRNA levels of DICER1, DROSHA, and DGCR8 were significantly decreased in both cohorts. However, AGO2 was significantly downregulated only in the Korean ccRCC cohort. Additionally, positive correlations were observed between th...

Authors: Yang F, Song Y, Ge L, Zhao G, Liu C, Ma L Abstract The aim of the present study was to identify long non-coding RNA (lncRNA)-based prognostic biomarkers in papillary renal cell carcinoma (pRCC). lncRNA expression data and corresponding clinical data from patients with pRCC were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas. R software and packages were used for data analysis. Univariate Cox regression analysis and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression were performed to identify key lncRNAs, which were then used to construct a prognostic model using multivariate Cox regression analysis. Patient...
