This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic role of NLR, PLR, and LMR in PE. A total of 103 PE cases from a cardiology department were included in the study. Control group consisted of 102 patients selected from outpatient clinics other than cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and chest diseases. We retrospectively evaluated demographic and clinical characteristics, treatments, laboratory and imaging findings, and outcomes of patients. The median follow-up of PE patients was 39 months, and the 5-year overall survival probability was 73.8%. Out of 103 patients, 20 were classified as high risk PE cases (19.4%). Thrombolytic ...

CONCLUSIONS: In patients with PAD, OS was largely defined by comorbidities but not by lesion location. The background risk factors, underlying comorbidities, and event rates were different according to PAD location, suggesting that stratified treatment should be established for different patient populations. Authors: Infante T, Viscovo LD, Rimini ML, Padula S, Caso P, Napoli C Abstract Early identification of coronary atherosclerotic pathogenic mechanisms is useful for predicting the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) and future cardiac events. Epigenome changes may clarify a significant fraction of this "missing hereditability", thus offering novel potential biomarkers for prevention and care of CHD. The rapidly growing disciplines of systems biology and network science are now poised to meet the fields of precision medicine and personalized therapy. Network medicine integrates standard clinical recording ...

Catheter tips are a possible resource for biological study on catheter failure. Drug Discov Ther. 2019;13(5):280-287 Authors: Takahashi T, Minematsu T, Murayama R, Nakagami G, Mori T, Sanada H Abstract Few studies have investigated the molecular mechanisms of catheter failure (CF). Herein, we performed histological and molecular biological analyses of the catheter tip to demonstrate its potential as a resource for biological investigation. Additionally, we searched for risk factors for the development of inflammation and coagulation, which are pathological conditions clarified by biological analys...

ConclusionsThe prevalence of BS in Egyptian patients with BCS is considerably high. The clinical presentation of these patients was different from those without BS. Besides, the incidence of HCC was higher in patients with BS, whereas the mortality did not differ between the two groups.

ConclusionWe suggest that MVs instead of whole EV preparations, and TF activity rather than its antigenic quantification should be used in clinical studies for identifying patients with progressive tumors at high risk for VTE.Graphic abstract
