Intravenous tranexamic acid reduces blood transfusions in revision total hip arthroplasty: a meta-analysis.

Conclusion: Based on available evidence, use of intravenous TXA for patients undergoing revision arthroplasty may reduce hemoglobin reduction, number of red blood cell units transfused and blood transfusion rate without increasing the risk of venous thromboembolism and length of operation duration. Given the relevant possible biases in our study, adequately powered and better-designed studies with long-term follow-up are required to reach a firmer conclusion.
