Adsorption characteristics and thermodynamic property fields of polymerized ionic liquid and polyvinyl alcohol based composite/CO2 pairs

In this study, consolidated composites are synthesized employing highly porous activated carbon (AC) namely Maxsorb III and two types of binders: (i) polymerized ionic liquid (PIL) and (ii) polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) for the development of compact CO2 based ACS. Adsorption characteristics of composite/CO2 pairs are studied at temperature ranging from 20 to 70 °C and pressure up to 7000 kPa. Experimental adsorption uptake data are fitted with Langmuir, Tóth, Dubinin-Astakhov (D-A) and modified D-A equations. It is observed that composite employing 90 wt% Maxsorb III and 10 wt% PIL shows maximum CO2 adsorption uptake of 1.41146 cm3 g−1, whilst composite incorporating 90 wt% Maxsorb III and 10 wt% PVA can adsorb up to 1.31311 cm3 g−1. Besides, the adsorption/desorption kinetics and thermodynamic properties such as isosteric heat of adsorption, specific heat capacity, entropy and enthalpy, which are very crucial for ACS design, are rigorously analyzed here.Graphical abstract

ConclusionOur results suggest that steatotic grafts should be used for recipients without severe liver failure to avoid ABS, and that endoscopic stenting of post-LT ABS leads to a high success rate, but is associated with a significant risk of recurrence.

Authors: Siwiec E, Szynkowska A, Milkiewicz M, Marlicz W, Stachowska E Abstract Conjugated dienes of linoleic acid (CLA) are constitutional and geometric isomers of linoleic acid that are commonly used as dietary supplements during body mass reduction. Their role in the reduction of lipid deposits in liver tissue is not unequivocal. CLA contain an equimolar mixture of two isomers of linoleic acid: trans-10,cis-12 CLA and cis-9,trans-11. Only one isomer - trans-10,cis-12 CLA exhibits fat-reducing properties, cis-9,trans-11 CLA does not. The main goal of this study was to determine if CLA isomers affect the activatio...

The gel swelled 900% in ethanol, 1200 % in propanol and 750% in butanol. The extent of swelling can be used as a guide for preferential removal of particular alcohol from its mixture. Studies...

bu Morita The aim of this cross-sectional study was to evaluate the association between the influence of occupational stress and coping style on periodontitis among Japanese workers. The study sample included 738 workers (age range: 19–65 years) at a manufacturing company in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan. To analyze occupational stress and coping style, all participants answered a self-report questionnaire composed of items on their work environment and oral health behavior. Oral examinations were performed by calibrated dentists. Among all workers, 492 (66.7%) workers were diagnosed with periodontitis, and 50 (6....

Authors: DENTAL SUPPLEMENT, Candotto V, Oberti L, Gabrione F, Greco G, Rossi D, Romano M, Mummolo S Abstract Nonsyndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate is the most common craniofacial anomaly affecting around 1 in 700 live births worldwide. Clefts of the human face can be classified anatomically as cleft palate only (CPO), cleft lip only (CLO), cleft lip and palate (CLP) or a combined group of cleft lip with or without cleft palate (CL/P), based on different in embryologic development. These malformations have some genetic origin, in fact several association studies have been performed to obtain important ...

PSA: there’s some text missing from the headlines popping up lately that show quitting drinking improves women’s mental health. Essentially, the findings of the Canadian Medical Association Journal are that not drinking at all is actually better for your health than drinking when you’re stressed, no matter how much you want to lean into the whole a-glass-of-red-wine-a-day-is-good-for-you thing. But it’s not that simple. There’s no foolproof formula like: “If I stop drinking, then my mental health will improve” (as nice as that would be). For many of us, there’s legwork neces...
