Indocyanine green (ICG) – Menthol loaded cerasomal nanoparticles for ultrasound imaging and photothermal therapy against tumor

Publication date: 15 November 2019Source: Materials Letters, Volume 255Author(s): Xi Yang, Chunan Wang, Mengli Ding, Chunyang Zhang, Wei Wang, Zhong CaoAbstractMultifunctional ultrasound contrast agents (UCAs) combining ultrasonic diagnosis with tumor therapy have received enormous attentions in virtue of their good biocompatibility and high biological penetration ability. However, nanoscale UCAs with suitable size and good therapeutic effect remain to be developed in future studies. Herein, indocyanine green and L-menthol loaded hybrid cerasomes (ICG-MCNs) was fabricated as a multifunctional theranostic nanoplatform, which exhibited high structure stability and photo-stability in aqueous. Mutual assistance with the photothermal effect of ICG, heating triggered tri-phase transition of L-menthol could produce continuous gas microbubbles for enhanced ultrasound imaging. Thus, the resultant ICG-MCNs is anticipated to be a competent candidate for US imaging and photothermal therapy.

Conclusions: WISC-III evaluated the cognitive performance in children, born preterm, aged 6-8 years old, and had neonatal ICH did not differ from those of their peers without a history of ICH. These findings suggest that, in preterm infants, a neonatal diagnosis of ICH may not be associated with cognitive performance at school age and this should be investigated through a longitudinal study.Resumo Objetivos: comparar o desempenho cognitivo de escolares, nascidos prematuramente, segundo a presen ça de hemorragia intracraniana (HIC) no período neonatal. Métodos: corte transversal de uma coorte de escolar...

Pd is a robust catalytic material for this reaction and is considered as an alternative to Pt due to its similarity with Pt. However, since Pd is oxidized at a lower positive potential than Pt, it is less active and less stable than Pt in an oxygen reduction reaction. We developed a s...

Authors: Hao J, Dong B, Zhang J, Luo Z Abstract OBJECTIVES:   To evaluate whether pre-emptive analgesia is an effective technique to reduce postoperative delirium (PD) in geriatric patients with hip fracture. METHODS: This is a double-blind randomized clinical trial. Ninety elderly patients scheduled for hipfracture surgery at HongHui Hospital, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an, China  between March 2018 and January 2019 were divided into 2 groups. On arrival at the emergency department, the experimental group (n=44) received ultrasound-guided continuous fascia iliaca compartment block (...

io Silva Sérgio M. Jesus The advances in wireless communications are still very limited when intended to be used on Underwater Communication Systems mainly due to the adverse proprieties of the submarine channel to the acoustic and radio frequency (RF) waves propagation. This work describes the development and characterization of a polyvinylidene difluoride ultrasound transducer to be used as an emitter in underwater wireless communications. The transducer has a beam up to 10° × 70° degrees and a usable frequency band up to 1 MHz. The transducer was designed using Finite Elements Meth...

ConclusionsThis study shows that LUS is highly feasible and frequently detects postoperative pulmonary complications after major abdominal surgery. Discordant observations in atelectasis and pleural effusions for LUS and CXR can be explained by a superior diagnostic ability of LUS in detecting these conditions. The effects of LUS as primary imaging modality on patient outcome should be evaluated in future studies.

Conclusion: Diagnostically, we almost meet the international standards of designating cases with AUS/FLUS (Bethesda category III) and approximate the risk of malignancy. However, the clinical management's guidelines should be followed to decrease the risk of unnecessary surgeries and their complications. There is a statistically significant correlation between the age and gender with the final histopathology report, respectively.
