Authors: Zhang X, Ye Y, Fu M, Zheng B, Qiu Q, Huang Z Abstract The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is tightly associated with a variety of human tumors, including Burkitt lymphoma and acquired immune deficiency syndrome-related lymphoma of B-cell origin, as well as nasopharyngeal carcinoma and gastric cancer of epithelial origin. The virus latently infects the host cells and expresses proteins and non-coding RNAs to achieve malignancy. MicroRNAs (miRNAs or miRs) are small RNAs consisting of 19-25 nucleotides, which directly bind to the 3'-untranslated region of mRNAs to promote degradation and inhibit translation of mRNAs...

Authors: Gui W, Li J, Zhang Z, Wang L, Zhao J, Ma L, Su L Abstract The present case report investigated the clinical characteristics of primary hematological malignancy of the uterine cervixin five patients. Among the five patients, three patients were diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) and two patients with myeloid sarcoma (MS) of the uterine cervix. Biopsies of the uterine cervices demonstrated the involvement of lymphoid cells or myeloid blasts cells. Immunohistochemical staining demonstrated the expression of B-lymphoid and myeloid lineage markers. The associated lysozyme, myeloperoxidase and mast/stem...

In this study, we first tested the role of Peg-Dox in the killing of myeloid cell lines and of primary myeloid leukemia cells. Then, a Peg-Dox-based protocol was used to treat patients with myeloid neoplasms. The results showed that the Peg-Dox and Peg-Dox-based protocols had a similar killing ability in myeloid cell lines and in primary myeloid leukemia cells compared to that of conventional doxorubicin. The complete remission rate was 87.5% and 100% for patients with refractory/relapsed acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome with excess blasts, respectively, after treatment with Peg-Dox. All patients develop...

ConclusionsBTZ loaded Gly4-PLA NPs apoptotic index was found to be much higher than BTZ but lesser than BTZ loaded FA-Gly4-PLA against breast cancer cell lines (MDA-MB-231). ROS intracellular assessment assay indicated that BTZ and BTZ loaded FA-Gly4-PLA NPs exhibited higher ROS production. Conclusively, the BTZ loaded FA-Gly4-PLA NPs were able to encapsulate more BTZ than BTZ loaded Gly4-PLA NPs and were found to be more effective as per asin vitro anti-cancer effect is concerned.

Authors: Moll J, Isailovic N, De Santis M, Selmi C Abstract BACKGROUND: Serum rheumatoid factors are autoantibodies of different isotypes directed against the Fc fraction of immunoglobulin G (IgG) and represent paradigmatic autoantibodies that have been largely used in clinical practice for decades. Traditionally IgG has been associated with rheumatoid arthritis and more recently included also in the classification criteria for SjÓ§gren's syndrome. Researchers have established that rheumatoid factors are positive in a variety of infectious, autoimmune, and neoplastic disorders, thus requiring a comprehensive evalua...

In this study, we used this natural virus-host model for herpesvirus-induced cancer by infecting chickens with MDV, and evaluated the protective efficacy of TF27 and the nucleoside analogue valganciclovir (VGCV) on virus replication and tumorigenesis. We could demonstrate that both drugs reduced viral load in the blood and prevented tumor development in a large portion of the animals. Antiviral treatment also had a positive impact on body weight gain, while no negative compound-associated side effects were observed. This research provides the first evidence that the artesunate derivative TF27 and VGCV can be used in avian ...

BACKGROUND: Primary colorectal lymphoma is rare, representing 0.2% to 0.6% of all colorectal cancers. Because of its low incidence and histologic variety, no treatment guidelines exist. OBJECTIVE: The purpose was to report the experience of primary colorectal lymphoma in an institutional and a national cohort. DESIGN: This was a retrospective cohort study. SETTINGS: The study was conducted with institutional data composed of 3 tertiary referral centers and national data. PATIENTS: Patients with primary colorectal lymphoma were identified within the Mayo Clinic (1990–2016) and the Surveillance, Epidemiol...
