Evaluation of the impact of enhanced recovery after surgery protocol implementation on maternal outcomes following elective cesarean delivery

Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols are care pathways intended to improve patient outcomes and accelerate return to normal pre-surgical function by means of standardization of practice at all stages of the peri-operative period and guided by the best available evidence.[1] Implementation of ERAS protocols for various general, gynecological and orthopedic surgery populations has been shown to improve patient outcomes, including decreasing hospital length of stay (LOS), reducing opioid consumption, and increasing maternal satisfaction.
