Complete Transaxillary Resection of Fully Formed Cervical Ribs Is Safe and Effective: Outcomes From 22 Years of Experience With Long-Term Follow-up

Although the supraclavicular approach has been widely adopted for cervical rib resection, the required manipulation of critical nerves and vessels presents a significant risk to this operation. Transaxillary decompression avoids some of these concerns. We reviewed more than two decades of experience with decompression of the thoracic outlet in patients with complete cervical ribs using a transaxillary approach with video-assisted endoscopy.
